What is needed to organize a beautiful, bright and natural light in the room? What is used for this and how to install everything correctly? If you have decided that it will be modern lighting: an LED strip or flexible neon will be a great solution. All that remains is to choose a mount and deal with the installation options. This is what we will do.
LED lights, what type is suitable for what?
Different types of lighting should be used for different purposes. For example, for street lighting, it is imperative to use hermetically sealed devices so that moisture and ultraviolet rays do not affect the durability of their work, and advertising lighting is an LED strip with the most powerful light. Therefore, before installation, you should understand their features, so:
- LED strips for 12, 24, 48 V are simply ideal for interior lighting in the interior. Thanks to the fact that they are quite thin and flexible, you can create real miracles with them, highlighting shelves, cabinets, niches, kitchen aprons, all kinds of small shapes of various configurations. With their help, you can work with complex geometry in space. The possibilities are simply unlimited;
- illumination LED tape 220 V - street modification with a high class of protection. This indicator, as a rule, is visible in the characteristics. "IP" with numbers show the degree of tightness of the device, and depending on the need, you should choose a higher or lower level. In addition to the street, it is used in swimming pools, saunas, baths and showers;
- flexible neon - LED lighting, which you can buy on our website. This is a light tube with a different cross-section, where the diodes are "filled" with a transparent or semi-transparent polymer. Beautiful soft light is practically universal, as it can be used both indoors and outdoors, in landscape design, street and city lighting. You can easily make stylish new-fashioned lamps of various shapes from glowing neon.
LED lights, how to properly fasten the tape?
As soon as you have decided on the type of LED strip, the moment of the main question comes: "How will it be installed now?"
For low-voltage tapes of 12, 24 and 48 V, 3 fastening methods are used:
- double-sided tape is a fairly universal option for simple interior solutions. Removing the protective film, you simply lay the tape on a horizontal or vertical plane and enjoy the result. Manufacturers such as COLORS and RISHANG use only high-quality adhesive elements for their production. If you have an ordinary LED backlight, you will have to buy double-sided tape yourself, because it will stay on the surface much longer. Note that there are surfaces on which it may simply not stick, for example, some types of plaster or paint;
- The LED profile allows you to attach the tape to any surface, in horizontal/vertical planes and even in corners. A box made of aluminum or plastic perfectly dissipates excess heat, prolonging the operation of the LED strip. It also performs a protective function. Fastened with self-tapping screws or dowels with screws. There are so many profile configurations that you will definitely choose the right option for yourself;
- glue is a good alternative to double-sided tape. A mandatory condition when choosing is a high indicator of heat resistance, because the backlight tape itself heats up during operation. For high-quality gluing, it is not necessary to apply a thick layer along the entire length, it is enough to spread a few drops pointwise with a certain distance on the back side. About 1 drop per 10 cm.
A special fastener is used for the 220 V tape. Since it does not have an adhesive base, plastic clips, clamps and staples are perfect for installation. The main condition is that the fastener must match the size of the tape and hold it tightly at the base. The fastening step is approximately 10-12 cm and up to 10 cm, with steep bends. Nails or self-tapping screws will be needed to fix plastic elements.
An aluminum profile and many additional accessories are used for flexible neon. Connectors, mounting clamps, clips, all possible suspensions and fasteners. You can find all this in our Accessories section https://artled.com.ua/ru/accessories.
Why does LED strip lighting sometimes peel off?
There are times when lighting: LED tape or flexible neon does not hold well on the surface. There may be several reasons for this:
- The structure of the surface does not fit the method of fastening the tape. In this case, you just need to choose the right option.
- Low quality adhesive composition (tape/glue surface). Choose only high-quality materials for work.
- The surface was not properly prepared. For example, not degreased, before using tape.
- The wires for the power supply are not fixed properly and simply "tear out" the tape with their weight.
- The LED backlight tape is pasted with non-heat-resistant glue.
- A model with a high degree of protection, for example, IP67/IP68, which has a large weight, is stuck on a regular tape. For such dimensional tapes, it is better to use a stronger fastening.
- In wet rooms, the tape is pasted with tape. Here, it is also better to use a more reliable method of fixing it on the surface.
Installation of led tape and installation of flexible neon is a rather interesting process and it is quite possible to do it yourself. Who, if not you, knows the ultimate goal of the project best?
