Dear friends of the Artled online store, we continue to introduce you to the most interesting questions from our customers.

Optimal LED lighting in the apartment
Request:
- For two rooms with an area of 16 m² and 11 m² we recommend two separate groups of LED lighting for convenient control and uniform illumination of the space.
Connection conditions:
- LED strip COLORS COB-24V-IP20 18W 2700+6500K 5m
- Two Tuya WiFi controllers: LED controller DEYA CCT 12-36VDC, 5A*2CH (WZS2)
Question from the Client:

Answer from Artled (Lyudmila):
- To answer accurately, you need to calculate the power consumption and check whether the controller can withstand the load. Let's consider everything step by step:
💡 Data about the LED strip:
• Model: COLORS COB-24V-IP20 18W (2700+6500K)
• Power: 18 W / m
• Package length: 5 meters
• Supply voltage: 24V
• CCT type (dual-channel): means that warm and cold light are controlled separately (2 channels)
⸻
📐 Lighting areas:
• Large square – 16 m perimeter
• Small square – 11 m perimeter
⸻
🧮 Total length of the tape:
16 m + 11 m = 27 m
⸻
⚡️ Total power of the tape:
• 18 W/m × 27 m = 486 W
⸻
🔌 Current at 24V:
486 W / 24 V = 20.25 A — this is the total current on both channels (warm + cold).
Since the CCT strip, the power is distributed between two channels (warm and cold). Usually, the maximum goes simultaneously or only to one of the channels.
Approximately 10.1 A can be counted on each channel if both are turned on completely.
⸻
🔧 DEYA CCT Controller 12-36VDC, 5A*2CH (WZS2)
• Power per channel: 5A × 24V = 120W
• Total power: 240W
So:
• For a large square (16m × 18W = 288W) — one controller is definitely not enough
• For a small square (11m × 18W = 198W) — close together, also risky
❌ Conclusion:
The WZS2 controller is not enough for either of the two zones at full load.
⸻
✅ Using the DEYA EV2 repeater (8A*2CH)
• EV2 can expand channels by receiving a signal from the main controller and add power.
• Has 8A × 2CH, that is:
• 8A × 24V = 192W per channel = 384W total
👉 Recommended solution:
1. One Tuya controller (DEYA WZS2) per zone
2. One or more EV2 repeaters to boost power (especially for a large square)
3. Power supplies of appropriate power separately for the controller and repeaters
⸻
🔌 Configuration example:
For a large square (16 m):
• Power: 288 W
• We use:
• 1× DEYA WZS2
• 1× EV2
• Power supply for ~300-350 W
For a small square (11 m):
• Power: 198 W
• You can:
• or 1× WZS2 + 1× EV2
• or 2× WZS2 (but more expensive)
⸻
🧠 Tip from Artled:
WZS2 controllers are only suitable as signal controllers, and it is better to route all power through EV2. This is exactly what these repeaters are designed for — remove the load from the controller, leaving only control.
⸻
🔋 Power supply:
Each EV2 and controller requires a separate power supply, or one powerful one with multiple outputs, 24V with a power reserve.
⸻
